Social innovation for complex problems: WISIR online learning modules

We recommend
April 30, 2019

These free, online learning modules, created by the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience (WISIR), are intended to provide theoretical background to systems innovators in an accessible way, while introducing practical tools for application. There are three topic areas:

  • Understanding complex problems and systems,
  • Seeing and describing systems, and
  • Social innovation and systems entrepreneurship.

The learning modules provide the basics for anyone setting out to understand social innovation and why an understanding of complexity and the nature of systems is essential for change makers.

These sessions were originally presented as lectures with students at the University of Waterloo, and as such, are somewhat informal and personable. And we highly recommend them for a strong foundation in systems thinking and innovation.
